Kia ora, we are Koa

Koa Press is a new independent publisher proudly based in Christchurch, New Zealand. The creation of Tonia Shuttleworth, who draws on her 17 years of experience in the UK publishing industry, working as a stylist and art director with globally recognised food and lifestyle brands and icons.

Tonia has always been extremely creative, and after gaining a bachelor of Design in her home city of Christchurch, she set off on her O.E. to the UK, where she quickly embedded herself into the buzzing publishing industry. Her experience ranges from styling and art directing an extensive variety of magazine titles, books, and advertising campaigns in the food, lifestyle and beauty sectors. She also draws on her graphic design experience and has designed and published the first book by Koa Press.

This beautiful debut title, Petal Power is an exciting collaboration with Studio Home, where founder and fellow Kiwi Julia Atkinson-Dunn has gained a large loyal following through her online blog of 13 years and social media as an interior stylist and more recently an avid gardening enthusiast.

Petal Power explores the fascinating, colourful world of gardening, tailoring the creative process to a younger, engaged market. We are excited to announce pre-orders for Petal Power are available now, with an official launch in mid-Feb 2021.
