Kia ora, we are Koa

Koa Press is a new independent publisher proudly based in Christchurch, New Zealand. The creation of Tonia Shuttleworth, who draws on her 17 years of experience in the UK publishing industry, working as a stylist and art director with globally recognised food and lifestyle brands and icons.

Tonia has always been extremely creative, and after gaining a bachelor of Design in her home city of Christchurch, she set off on her O.E. to the UK, where she quickly embedded herself into the buzzing publishing industry. Her experience ranges from styling and art directing an extensive variety of magazine titles, books, and advertising campaigns in the food, lifestyle and beauty sectors. She also draws on her graphic design experience to design her titles. Now, back in New Zealand she includes photography in her repertoire, alongside prop and food styling.
